Ascent is a provider of deal support solutions for corporate finance advisers across the UK, Europe and as far as Australia. We provide M&A analysis and research to support transactions across the SME and mid-market sectors. We are a small yet growing team, working from the UK and Asia. We do not do company politics, we exist to help M&A advisors to bigger, better and more profitable transactions. 

 

Job Overview:

The candidate will be managing a key client account, and interacting with many stakeholders in the corporate finance industry. The role will primarily involve liaising directly with multiple clients to understand their research requirements, delivering the research promptly at excellent service levels and developing the account further by being commercially aware of opportunities to provide more value. The successful candidate will have access to numerous resources including an offshore research function and industry-leading databases to support project delivery. The services provided will form an important stage for sell-side and buy-side mergers & acquisitions (M&A) transactions and business development initiatives.

The role is suited for someone who is naturally analytical-minded, has an interest in business strategy, enjoys research, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and would enjoy dealing with multiple clients. The starting salary range is £27,000 to £32,000 per annum with the amount offered depending on experience and suitability. There will be a clear remuneration package from day one linked to the development of the account so will be suitable for someone who is commercially aware and personally driven to increase their earnings. 

 

Job Description

  • Provide industry-leading research to support sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions across a range of geographies and industry sectors;
  • Identify strategic acquirers and private equity investors for companies who are seeking to sell or raise investment;
  • Identify acquisition targets on-market and off-market for companies seeking to grow inorganically;
  • Produce industry market research to support business development and deal delivery;
  • Provide company valuations via precedent transactions and quoted comparable companies analysis;
  • Provide deal support by acting as the first point of contact for strategic and financial buyers and arranging NDAs;
  • Provide weekly updates for clients on live M&A projects;
  • Liaise with our offshore team to manage research projects from initiation to completion.

 

Skills and Capabilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to nurture strong client relationships;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines, independently;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • The ability to make decisions, solve problems and develop solutions;
  • Think analytically to develop company buyer and acquisition target ideas.

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be educated to at least a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) level with an Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1) or higher. 

Previous industry experience is not required because training will be provided and senior support to help the successful candidate fulfill the role. 

 

Location

This is a remote role however will involve two client conferences a year in the UK and face-to-face meetings. Please only apply if you are comfortable working from home.
